Walt Disney World with Kids: Hollywood Studios – June 1, 2025

The next day was a rest day, spent mostly poolside at the Polynesian’s Lava Pool. They had some fun activities going on, and LS loved the freeze dance the best. She made Mickey tie-dye t-shirts with her cousins, and then we all headed out to Disney Springs for dinner and shopping.

The next day we arrived at early entry to Hollywood Studios to rope drop Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. We then headed over to our first Lightning Lane of the day, Tower of Terror, which only one of her cousins would brave with Mr. Strange and I. We then caught a “secret” 10:30 showing of the new Villains show by Rock ‘n Rollercoaster.

LS had recently gotten big into space and we had watched Episodes IV and VII of Star Wars before going to Disney. She had picked out a Rey costume to wear and was very excited to head over to Galaxy’s Edge. We first made a stop at the Launch Bay to meet her favorite droid, BB-8, which she loved.

We were then supposed to have a Lightning Lane for Slinky Dog Dash, but it was down, so we decided to head on to Galaxy’s Edge for lunch at Docking Bay 7.

After lunch, we had a Lightning Lane for Toy Story Mania, so we headed back to Toy Story Land. After Toy Story Mania, Slinky Dog was back up, so we rode it while we were there as well.

Then back to Galaxy’s Edge! We went on Rise of the Resistance (Lightning Lane), which everyone loved and was just as fun as last time, though we found the First Order to be a little kinder than a few years ago. Afterwards, LS had a little run in with Kylo Ren and some stormtroopers, but she wielded her newly purchased blue lightsaber and scared them away.

We then went on Smuggler’s Run, where LS and I were pilots! We were not great pilots, but it was fun all the same.

We looked around for Rey, but didn’t see her, so we headed on to Grand Avenue to say our farewell to this area, since it was in its final days before closing to make way for the new Monsters Inc. land. We had a final viewing of MuppetVision 3D and made mental plans to come back to PizzeRizzo for dinner. My brother is a huge Muppets fan, and looked all over for muppets merchandise, but all we ever found was a Kermit water bottle, a Kermit plush, and a Sam Eagle mug. Hopefully when the Muppet version of Rock ‘n Rollercoaster opens, there will be more options.

We then rode Star Tours, grabbed some ice cream, and watched the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.

LS’s younger cousin wanted to see the new Little Mermaid show so we headed that way, but it was down, so we continued back to Toy Story Land for Alien Swirling Saucers for a later Lightning Lane that I had grabbed. We then planned to circle back around to PizzeRizzo for dinner, but discovered it had closed about an hour earlier at 5pm. We had grilled cheese from Woody’s Toy Box instead.

We then split up for a bit: LS’s older cousin wanted to do Slinky Dog again and we had one remaining Lightning Lane that hadn’t been used after it went down, so her mom took her to ride that. LS’s younger cousin still wanted to catch the Little Mermaid show, so her dad and I took her to see it, and Mr. Strange took LS back to Galaxy’s Edge to see if they could find Rey. And they did!

She was with Chewie, who LS was a little intimidated by, so she hung back instead of joining the photo line. But right before Rey was about to leave, she saw LS and talked to her for a bit before calling Chewie over for a group photo! It absolutely made her day and she was beaming after that.

The new Little Mermaid show was fine. It had some cool effects, but I liked the new Villain show better.

We finished out our day at Hollywood Studios with Fantasmic! before returning back to the Polynesian for the night.
