We arrived in Orlando on Tuesday and took an Uber to our resort, the Polynesian. I had never stayed there before and booked a room using rented DVC points. We were in the Tokelau building facing the Oasis pool. Upon entering the room, I was a little confused, as it seemed to only have one full sized bed. But then we discovered the sofa was actually a Murphy bed and the console under the TV also turned into a twin size bed. Hidden beds everywhere! The room also had two bathrooms: one full bath with a tub/shower combo and another with a shower and sink. It was a good size with a balcony. I liked our room here better than the one we stayed in at the Grand Floridian last time, but I’m not sure if the DVC rooms are different than the standard resort rooms.
We grabbed a Dole Whip. LS chose the Stitch flavor, which was cotton candy.

It was drizzling, but LS wanted to take a quick dip in the pool before dinner. We were going to meet up with my brother and his family, who had arrived a day earlier and were spending the day at Blizzard Beach. We ate at Cap’n Cook’s, but since it was raining, it was extremely hard to find a table! I recommend doing mobile order here and eating out in the lobby or up on the second floor if you find yourself in this situation.
The next day was our first park day and we headed to Magic Kingdom. We had two days planned here (our first and last day) and chose not to buy Lightning Lane Multipass for our first day, so we prioritized short waits on our first day, knowing we would do the more popular rides later. We also didn’t rope drop, but took the monorail in around 9:30am after a breakfast from Kona Island.
After entering Magic Kingdom, we stopped for a quick group picture in front of the castle, then headed onto Fantasyland.
We rode the Mad Tea Party first, then Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel. We watched Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and then headed over to Enchanted Tales with Belle. LS got picked to be Chip!

We then rode It’s a Small World before heading over to Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland for lunch.
In Tomorrowland, we rode the People Mover, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and the Tomorrowland Speedway, before heading up to Storybook Circus to ride the Barnstormer and Dumbo.

After that, we headed back to the resort for a break. Magic Kingdom had extended evening hours that night for deluxe resort guests, so we headed back out around 7pm to make a Lightning Lane we had purchased for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. However, right when we arrived at the gate, it went down.
We headed over to Adventureland and rode the Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the Swiss Family Treehouse (still favorites of LS, three years later!). We then found a somewhat obscured spot in Liberty Square for the fireworks, but managed to get right in front of the castle just for the finale. During the fireworks, LS gave me a big hug and told me, “Thank you for taking me to Disney World!” Cue melted heart.
We then saw Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was back open, so we headed back there. It was the first time riding it for us, and it was a lot of fun! Since extended hours had started, wait times were down, so we walked onto Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, then had a short wait for Space Mountain. It was midnight by this point, so we headed back to the resort via ferry.
