We said goodbye to Switzerland the next day, taking a train from Zurich to Basel, then from Basel to Mannheim and over to Weinheim, where we would be staying for the final portion of our trip. As I’ve mentioned, Mr. Strange’s mother’s side of the family lives in this area, so we try to visit whenever we are in Europe.

We spent the next several days visiting with the family, going out to eat, exploring Weinheim, and taking a few local trips.

We visited Heidelberg with his aunt and uncle. We took a bus tour that was probably informative, but I found it really hard to concentrate on the English speaker in the headphones over the louder German over the speakers, so I really only caught bits and pieces.
We wandered the streets, going in and out of shops, and visited the Old Bridge.

We also took a quick trip down to Ladenburg, which we had only been to once briefly before. It was fun to explore through the town and see the old buildings.

But mostly we spent this time with family, and LS enjoyed helping water the plants.

Unfortunately, our time in Europe came to an end and we soon had to head back home. Until next time!
